Ephesians 3:20 says, Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the POWER that worketh in us,

This scripture often amazes me. It starts off very much encouraging, as God says He will do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ask or think – THEN – He drops the hammer on us with one little clause. “According to the power that worketh in us”. He puts the responsibility of the A clause in our hands with just 8 words. As Christians we often find ourselves delusional with thoughts of God swooping down and saving us from our calamity. We sit in our own turmoil waiting patiently for a “breakthrough”. If you have been following my weekly blogs you should know by now that I believe in the almighty saving Grace of God, but I also believe in self-empowerment. I believe that we as Christians have been given, by Faith everything we need to create a successful life for ourselves comprehensively. Today we are going to talk about the ways that we can lose our power, multiply our power and transfer your power to empower.

  1. What is stealing your power?

As a Christian, there is one thing you shouldn’t feel and that is powerless. If you find yourself sluggard, down, depressed, and/or fighting to stay spiritual motivated, then there is something draining your power source. When we lack energy to do right, wrong has become prevalent in our life. That doesn’t necessarily mean you are committing the “very bad” sins, it could be as simple as slacking up on your giving or not forgiving your spouse for last’s weeks argument. When we leave doors of sin open, we become prey to the spiritual leaches that seek to snatch our focus and steal our power. If this is you, stop and repent now. Confess the sins you are committing and for those you commit unaware. Wash yourself in the blood and commit to a new start by Faith. You’ll find an instant jolt of Grace – that divine power to assist you to do what needs to be done!

  1. Who is stealing your power?

Have you heard this before? Birds of the same feathers flock together. Or what about this? Who you hang around determine your ground – these are sayings that surmise one principle, your entire destiny hangs in the balance of the company you keep. WOW! Those are some strong words. 2014 is almost over, it’s time to do some evaluating in your life. Are there people in your life that has served as power leaches “to you.” I wanted to put emphases on “to you” because often time these people are not bad people, they are just bad for you. When you hold on to old relationships, alliances, or covenants in a time of new, you run the risk of forfeiting it. As long as that soul cord is there, called relationship, a part of you will never evolve. You’ll spend your power fighting old habits, in a new place. I want to challenge you today, DO A RELATIONSHIP CHECK UP. Swiftly cut off anyone who remotely looks like where you’ve been or even where you are. Only connect yourself to forward thinkers!

  1. Who is Your Source

Well now this is important. Who is your power source? When you feel like you are running low, do you connect to the right source? Let’s set the record straight on the onset of this section, there is only ONE source and His name is Jesus. John 14:6 says, Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” So the whole idea that there are many ways to God has been debunked through scripture. The only way to God is through His son Jesus. Now that that’s cleared up, let’s move forward. We live in an idolatrous culture; we have put money, power, relationships and most importantly ourselves in front of God. Knowing well that, anything we put our hope in outside of God will leave us feeling ashamed and disappointed, we steadily try over and over again to find that one fix that will do us better then Jesus will. Fiending after the culture we live in, we take on their methods of fulfillment through self-gratification. Chasing after one thing after the other to feel empowered, significant, and/or validated only to end up at in an even worse state. If you are a Jesus bearer there is only one place you will be fulfilled, empowered, and strengthened and that is in the presence of God. You should seek Him at least daily via prayer, fasting, reading of the Scripture, Praise and Worship. This is the believer’s true power source, anything other than seeking God in his presence is idolatry.

  1. How do I multiply my power?

David said this, Psalms 27:14, “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.” This type of waiting on God is so faithFULL that you innately find yourself in a disposition of service towards God. One of the ways to receive more power is serving God! Serving the benefit of the Lord’s agenda will attract more Grace in your life. Remember this, only workers receive the strength of the Lord. If you want more power, begin to do more for God. Go beyond the call of duty in your service to him. Only in the Kingdom, work gives you strength and the lack thereof drains you of your potency.

  1. How to Transfer Your Power?

So we talked about how to lose power, and how to multiply power – now let’s discuss what the believer is supposed to do with their power.  You receive power to empower! David said in Psalms 51:12,13 “12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. 13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.” Luke 22:32 says, “But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren” You see in two accounts that the next action after you are empowered is to go out and empower others. Contrary to popular belief being powerful doesn’t mean you speak in tongues the most, or you are a Prophet and hear God’s voice more than others. Being powerful means you have learned how to stay connected to God through the challenges of life until he has comprehensively changed you, and now you are ready to lead someone else through the same experience. Now that’s powerful!

We have been equipped already with everything we need to succeed, allow this blog to be a GPS for you. Whether you need to clean sin out of your life, rid your life of power leaches called people, set aside more time to seek God in His presence, dedicate yourself to doing more in the kingdom, or seeking to empower someone else, the above will serve as a road map for you.
