Making Decisions

decision-making

I sense in the upcoming year there will be a lot of decisions that have to be made. Should you move, should you stay, should you take the new job, or stay at your current one. I also feel that these decisions will be time sensitive to the advancement or regression of your destiny. It is imperative to be able to make clear, concise but- fast decisions. In my study I found that on average the human brain can make two conscious decisions per second. Wow – to go further 7 seconds before you are conscious of the decision you’ve made you had already made a decision. So your question might be what takes me so long to really come to a decision if these facts hold true. Let’s break down the decision making process step by step.

You want a new job so you decide to apply and submit resumes to some job postings that look like they would be a good fit for you. One of the potential jobs contact you and set you up for an interview, which goes extremely well. Before you can leave the interview they offer you the job. As you sit there in somewhat of a faceoff between you and the interviewee, you are stuck for words. Right before you say yes, you begin to think – well what if this is too soon, I haven’t given a proper notice to my current employer yet, I’ve put so much time in my other job, am I being disloyal?

Do you see what I see in the above scenario? You had a desire to change jobs, you acted on that desire and was successful, but when the time came to make a decision that inner voice in your head begin to bombard you with fear, doubt, and worry concerning the what ifs, how ifs, and maybe ifs. That is what makes the decision process so long- when we allow negative self-talk to shroud our true inner voice and desires.

Decisions are coming, and with proper choosing will yield the blessing you’ve been waiting for. Deal with all of your fears and doubts now, so that when the time comes to make a life changing decision you’ll be ready and execute with precision!
