Prayer Part 1 – Don’t Give Up

Happy Monday!

I hope you enjoyed last week’s blog discussing the benefits of fasting. This week I want to discuss prayer. I hope you are ready to journey with me as we discover how prayer or the lack thereof can change the trajectory of your life.

Prayer Part 1 – Don’t Give Up

Luke 18:1-8 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

This scripture is fascinating to me mainly because of the fact that the judge was unjust, and had no fear of God, but because of the persistency and consistency of the widow he granted her – her desire. Now before we even get into the topic of prayer we can extract a life principle out of this parable. The principle is that you should never allow anyone to tell you no, if you want something out of life keep pressing until you get it, either you’ll find someone to open the door for you because they believe in you, or they’ll open the door just simply for you to stop the continual harassment due to your pestering persistency! Either way you’ll get what you want – the open door.

To add to that – God our heavenly father asks, if the unjust judge, because of your continual pursuit can grant you your desires, how much more will I do? Sometimes it may feel like somewhere on the path between your heart and God’s ear your prayers are hijacked, like they’re hitting a brick wall. I want to encourage you that God hears everyone of your prayers. Don’t stop talking to him about it, don’t dismiss your own Faith due to things not happening as fast as you think it should. Keep on praying, pray night and day, be real with God and tell him what is on your heart, and the promise to the persistent-consistent praying believer is this – I HEAR YOUR PRAYERS AND I WILL ANSWER THEM.

I look forward to spending this week with you, and I pray that this week’s blog will re-invigorate your prayer life….
