What an awesome discussion on prayer this week! Have you been enjoying the daily prayer blogs so far?
If you are a member of my daily text feed you’ll know that I have been sharing scriptures for study on prayer this week. Yesterday’s scripture was
Romans 8:26 King James Version (KJV)
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Did you know we carry a personal intercessor with us everywhere we go? We have a helper that “helpeth our infirmities” The message bible version of the same verse says, “Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans.” Well how about that?!?!
I’m sure if you are like me, you run into “those moments” in life where you get tired in the waiting – weary in well doing. Well the job of the Spirit within us is to pray to Jesus on our behalf. There is a consistent thread that you will notice in this weeks prayer blogs, and that is dependency on Jesus. Anyone that is consistent in prayer has an awareness of Jesus Christ and His power. They understand where their power comes from and knows how to get it. Prideful people don’t pray, and if they do it is like this passage in Luke 18 11 – 13.
11 . The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector.
12I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’
13“But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
Two men were performing the act of prayer but both men heart wasn’t in the same place – the way to activate the almighty intercessor in you is an awareness of your need of Jesus Christ in your life.
Be aware of this gift from God, Honor Him and in those moments of extreme weakness, He’ll pray to the Father on your behalf.
