Yesterday we talked about fulfilling the great commission, which is to go ye therefore and teach all nations. I want to continue to expound on that by discussing with you a very important way we can teach the nations. It’s probably a way you would least expect but here it goes….SOCIAL MEDIA.
Through technology we are able to connect with people all over the world. There is no place on earth too far away, as long as there is an Internet connection, that can keep you from family, friends, and even enemies. Now you may ask what does this have to do with evangelism and reaching the world. Well of course you are asking that, taking into consideration when the disciples understood the commandment of the Great Commission the last thing they thought about was a Facebook post or a tweet.
Though social networking has invited a lot of unwanted garbage in your life, it is also the biggest stage you’ll probably ever mount. With that being said, I have one question. Are you being a proper witness through your social networking sites? If the world stopped and read all of your post, tweets, comments, and inbox messages, would it represent Christ or well — the world? Do you take the time to talk about your church, or advertise about your favorite event that promotes positivity?
Today I want to challenge you to be more than a pamphlet passing out Christian, but use your social networking sites to spread positivity and the Love of Christ. You never know whose watching.
