Tithing- it sounds good, right? It reminds me of dating. It looks good & sounds good on paper, but you don’t really know how good of a relationship it could be? Everyone, at some point, has said to themselves, “What’s in it for me? How do I benefit?”…Well, the same thought can be about giving. So let’s take a look a few benefits:
Leadership: (1 Tim. 4:12) Lead by example. There’s no age limit when it comes to tithing. Whether you’re 4 years old or 104 years old- if you have something to give to the Lord, then by all means give it. Your actions may awaken the actions of others & bring about encouragement!
Discipline/Faith: (John 15:4-5; 7) These verses “kill two birds with one stone”. If you consider yourself to be a follower of Christ, then you learn to follow his words. Jesus emphasizes giving numerous times & the blessings that are behind it. But it takes faith it activate them, and faith is, also, what it takes to abide.
Budgeting: (I Cor. 16:2) What has priority in your lives? You can easily find out with a budget… In the same way that taxes are instantly removed from your paycheck, go ahead & instantly set aside an amount to give at the beginning of your pay period.
What God has in store for us goes beyond what we imagine for ourselves, and our decision-making plays a key role. With an open-mind & an open heart, giving can propel you to another level that you didn’t even know existed…To help track your progress create a journal, & record your outcome.
The proof is in the pudding; it just takes a little initiative.
