Today I shared this scripture from Proverbs 27:7 on our text club. The full soul loatheth a honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
The scripture jumped out to me – isn’t it amazing how when we have a good thing we tend to not respect it, but when we have a scarcity we honor all things. It reminds of the old adage, “One man’s floor is another man’s ceiling”
Have you been so blessed that – that thing that was sweet for you has now become loathsome. We are in a consumer society where the regular flow is to get get get. We can heap so much upon ourselves that we start being ungrateful for what we have. One of my biggest concerns for the upcoming generation is that we have given them so much that they value NOTHING. Our kids don’t know the struggle we had to go through to get where we are today. I believe if we don’t take the responsibility to teach our kids to value and honor what they have we will have left them out of many valuable life lesson.
I want to challenge you today to do some serious introspection. Have you become selfish and ungrateful of your proverbial honey? Are you teaching the next generation to appreciate or depreciate God’s blessing towards you and them?
