It’s easy to become overwhelmed when striving to make your dream a reality. It’s our dream, so we feel the burden, and the responsibility to make it happen. But remember, you don’t have to do it all by yourself. The sooner you realize that it’s OK to get help, the less pressure you will feel.
Find people who believe in your vision. Be clear on your goals and your expectations of them. Use the individual strengths of your team and don’t be afraid to delegate. Listen to their ideas and suggestions, the vision may be yours, but they may know of ways to successfully execute what needs to be done.
Keep communication open and effective, and encourage transparency. Teams are a lot like families and there may be differences of opinion from time to time. With good leadership skills, these differences can be overcome.
The benefits to having a team to work alongside are numerous. You will have more time to focus on the areas you are good at; the temptation to procrastinate will be less because your goals are shared and delegated; you will be able to have a second opinion on your ideas and productivity will be increased.
Even if you do not have an entire to team to work with, outsourcing tasks that need to be taken care of on a regular bases will make you more efficient.
