Quick Guide To Success

See your goal

Always remember the reason behind your goal. Keep yourself enthused by reliving the moment that it first came to mind. Remind yourself of the end result that you want to achieve. Break your goal into smaller tasks so that you can see your progression over time.

Understand the obstacles

Success comes with many challenges. There will be certain factors that will attempt to hinder or distract you. Get an idea of what those challenges will be and plan and prepare yourself to overcome them.

Create a positive mental picture

You must visualize your goal, see yourself being or doing whatever it is that you want. Use imagery; create a vision board; write it down or draw it out; use positive language concerning your goal.

Clear your mind of self-doubt

Don’t doubt yourself. Know what you are capable of and believe that with your hard work and time you can achieve anything.

Embrace the challenge

Challenges can be a great thing because they teach us about ourselves, and cause us to develop the tools necessary to deal with difficulties. Use all the challenges that come your way to better yourself and understand how to use them to your advantage.

Stay on track

Obstacles will come your way, and sometimes may even derail you. If you mess up, simply pick back up from where you left off. Do your best to stay on task: focus, plan ahead, get support, and develop habits that lead to achievement.

Show the world you can do it!

Realistic Goal Setting

Image result for Realistic Goal Setting

It’s that time of year when we are paying attention to the coming new year and the future. Goals and new year resolutions are being set all over the world. We all have specific things that we want to achieve in life. Goals can be anything from how much money you want to earn, to what places you want to visit. Goals are important because they come from our desires, and our success and happiness often depend on achieving them. Therefore, we should all set out to establish attainable goals and work diligently to accomplish them. There are certain questions you should consider when you set your next goals…

Is this possible? Before working towards a goal, you should make sure that you can realistically achieve it. If you set your goals too high, you risk being very disappointed when you figure you can’t complete the goal. It is better to set continuous short-term achievable goals, in an effort towards achieving a long-term goal.

How long will it take to achieve? The length of time it will take to achieve a goal is worth being considered. Make sure you set a realistic time period to accomplish the goal. Once you decide on it regularly check your calendar to make sure that you are on target.

How will I go about funding or achieving this goal? Always figure out the best route to completing a goal before deciding upon it. Money is often necessary to achieve a goal, so make sure you have a plan in place to acquire the funds needed.  When the path to a goal is well planed out it is much easier to achieve.

Embrace the Unexpected

How would you describe yourself: are you more of a control freak or a happy-go-lucky, roll with the punches type of person? As much as I have written about organization, goal setting, and planning in previous blogs, I also have to emphasize that being able to deal with the un-planned situations is just as important to really live a happy, successful life. In fact, it is often the unexpected, random occurrences in life and business that facilitate opportunities or conditions which deliver the most joy or the most important lessons.

Sometimes we have to embrace the chaos. In the midst of all the plans there will undoubtedly be things that we cannot control, and that’s ok. The key is to allow these unexpected occurrences to take place without discouraging or derailing your dreams. The chaos that may ensue may not be chaos at all, but a way for you to refocus or even change focus. Success will depend on how you respond to random events. Be careful not to let opportunities pass you by, in life and in business, because it was not part of your plan.

Get Your Hands Dirty

Image result for get your hands dirty

Gone are the times when the head honcho called all the shots, and the actual work trickled down to the lesser of the employees on the corporate ladder. In those days, an employee would start working at a company at the bottom and work their way up. Menial tasks were carried out by these, and their ideas or suggestions would not even be taken into consideration until they had proven themselves.

Today there has been a dramatic change in the way we do business, and the businesses that are going to survive are the ones where everyone is willing to get their hands dirty. This is especially true of small business. We now have employees that are not loyal to a company, but are loyal to an idea, concept, or belief and are not afraid to ‘job-hop’ to ensure they are promoting or upholding the concept they believe in.

Young employees are qualified and have ideas, and want to be heard and acknowledged. They will not stay where they feel that they are look down upon or are disregarded. Of course there is still room and need for mentorship, but in this new age of business everyone from the top to the bottom works together collaboratively for success individually and corporately.

If your desire to be successful in business is to sit back and call the shots, than you are in for a sharp shock. Be prepared to get your hands dirty. Great leaders lead by example, relationship and connection.

Be a Self-Starter

Image result for being a self starter what does that mean

Whether your goals are personal goals or career goals, it is essential that you are a self-starter. Taking the initiative in all aspects of your life will attract opportunities to you. Part of being a self-starter is to be willing to operate outside of your comfort zone. If you truly desire to reach a new level of success then something new must be done.

Self-starters recognize that success takes courage, planning and effort to achieve. They understand that they don’t know everything and are always looking for ways to learn. They are willing to make mistakes and use them as a means of self-development. They appreciate the fact that life is not about winning or losing, but rather the value and contribution you can use your life to make.

If you can adopt and develop the traits of a self-starter you will begin to enjoy working towards your goals, and will take the lead in your success.

Let Your Words Be Backed By Your Actions

OK, so we are marketplace ministers and want to impact all 7 mountains of influence in our society, and govern with Godly influence. This is going to happen more through our conduct, character and performance and less through what we profess.

In this age of social media, it’s as if we are all under a magnifying glass. Everything we say or do will be under scrutiny. It’s easy for a prospective employer or business partner to check Facebook, Twitter, Instagram to see if what you say lines up with what you really do. Are you really who you say you are?

Our repeated actions are what make up our character and reputation. If how we conduct ourselves contradicts what we say about ourselves, we will lose the trust and respect of those around us. Without trust and respect, it will be almost impossible to positively influence our surroundings.

If you remain true to who you are, your authenticity will cause you to stand out from the crowd. Your integrity, work ethic, and strength of character will put Jesus on display within your workplace, and cause others to inquire about you and your God.

So I encourage you to practice what you preach, back up your words with your actions and be a representative of the Kingdom by the things that you do.

Image result for collaboration

Have you ever heard the saying ‘two heads are better than one’? There are many scriptures in the bible that speak about teamwork: two are better than one Ecl 4:9-12, iron sharpens iron Pro 24:17, are just a couple of the most well-known.

Many successful people have been able to achieve their goals because of strategic partnerships, mentoring, and teamwork. Even a small business becomes more efficient when they can team-up with others of the same vision. Collaboration is evident to us every day, from music and film to fashion and food.

Collaboration, teamwork and partnership is needed in all areas of our lives. No one person has everything they need to succeed. We have been designed to work together. If you are trying to do everything on your own, you will never find that missing piece to the puzzle that will bring success.

If you have been hurt in the past, and have made a decision to go it alone, you are doing yourself a disservice. Just like the body needs all parts to function at its best, we need each other. Our society has lead us to believe that others do not want to share information, and if they do, it is only for their own advantage. This has led to a hoarding mentality where people have become reluctant to help and support others. This mentality is seen in all types of relationships from business to parents. In reality, successful individuals and organizations have learned that they can help themselves by helping others.

In order for us to lead successful lives we must master the art of collaborating, trust and teamwork. When we help each other, we help ourselves, and open doors that we would never have arrived at on our own.
