Timing Is Everything

Hi Everyone! It’s Monday and I hope you are ready for an extra special week! I want to encourage you that God’s plan for your life is in progress. God will allow events and happenings to take place that will 1) cause you to discover your place in the area of society you have been called to, and 2) cause you to step into position.

For the marketplace minister, timing is everything. Being able to make the most of an opportunity depends on the timing. How many times has an offer been presented to you but you have turned it down because “it’s not the right time”? We need to make the most of every opportunity by being prepared and on time. You must see every event or happening as a time to recognize what you have been called to do, and as a time to put into action what you have been called to do.

Be on time by being prepared. If you already know where your place is, work on having the skills, education and expertise needed to enter into that field. Have your resume up to date, interview skills ready and be on the lookout for when to make your move.

Be on time by having a strategy. Once you get there, what are you going to do? How will you make a difference? Devise a plan of action even before you get into position. People will listen to someone who has a constructive plan.

Be on time by being aware. Keep up to date with the current trends in your industry. Keep up to date with the current trends in society. Be willing to adapt your plans, your skills and your approach so that you and your goals are not outdated.

Your appointment with purpose is about to happen, make sure you are on time!

Keep Your Friday Fruitful

TGIF! Is this your mantra for today? Most people can’t wait for Friday to signal a time to switch off and retreat from the working week. Our thoughts become overtaken with weekend plans and it can be hard to concentrate on the task at hand. So how can we stay focused on Friday? Here are some essential activities to help keep your Friday fruitful.

Reflect on the week. Take time to acknowledge your accomplishments as well as what you could have done better. Set realistic goals for how you can improve your performance and use that happy Friday feeling to motivate you into action.

Tie up loose ends. You may be tempted to put things off until Monday, but this is not a great idea. You will likely spend the weekend with that task lingering in the back of your mind. Use the little bit of extra energy that suddenly appears on Friday to tie up loose ends. Now you can enjoy your weekend with a clear conscious.

Plan ahead. Do you get that Monday morning feeling? A good way to combat that dreaded feeling is to plan and prepare for Monday on Friday! You will arrive at work on Monday motivated because you know exactly what to do and what to expect.

Have a Fruitful Friday! Leave your comments and questions below!

Succeeding in the Marketplace Pt.1

Joseph, Esther, Daniel. What did these biblical characters have in common? Well firstly, they all worked for the good of society, right alongside non-believers. How did they successfully do this?  They had personal traits that allowed them to rise and thrive at the top of their field. In these next few blogs we will take a look at a few of these traits.

They developed and sharpened their gifts and abilities:

While gathered with the other young ladies at the Kings palace, Esther learned how to approach the King and how to gain favor with him.  This may not sound like much, but remember, coming before the king the wrong way would have ended in her death. At the appointed time she was able to skillfully use her position to petition and influence the king on the behalf of her people.

While Joseph was in charge of Potiphar’s household he became acquainted with the business Potiphar conducted as an officer of Pharaoh. At the appointed time, Joseph was able to interpret Pharaoh’s dream AND also give a solution. He was able to do this because he worked and developed his abilities prior to this moment.

Daniel stood out amongst his peers and even stood out from the best in Babylon. He strove for excellence as he worked and therefore developed skills and success that were second to none. He was subsequently given great responsibility and influence.

God may have given you the anointing, but it is up to you to work what God has given you to the best of your ability. No matter what position you hold or where you work, there are people, procedures and techniques that you can learn from to enhance and develop your expertise. God can then use you and your skills, gifts and abilities to influence for His good!

Education vs Favor

It’s Monday!  I want to motivate you today by reminding you of a special advantage you have as a child of God, and that is FAVOR.

Don’t get me wrong, getting an education is vitally important in today’s society. It is important to refine and enhance your skill and be the best you can be at your craft. Having the right qualifications opens doors and speaks of qualities in your character that you had to utilize to get through the course of study. But God’s favor will do for you what education can’t.

If you have been following these blogs, you will be in agreement with putting things into place that better your employment position. Now if you add to this the favor of God, you’ll find yourself in a win win situation! We all pray for God’s favor. God’s favor can set you on the same platform as those who are highly educated. But what will you do when you get there? Are you ready for where Gods favor will take you?

Here are some tips to make sure you are Prepared for Favor:

Favor gives confidence and works with your faith, believe in yourself and what you have been called to do. Be bold and keep on expecting God to work on your behalf. Don’t miss the moment God has prepared for you because you don’t think you are ‘good enough’ or ‘qualified’.

Favor will put you in the right place at the right time, have a plan practiced and prepared. It could be a business plan, a vision or dream, a list of ways to improve efficiency where you already work. Whatever it is, write it down and rehearse it so you can clearly convey your ideas whenever the opportunity arises.

Favor will cause you to be chosen over another, but your character is what will keep you there. Seek to continuously improve and develop your character. Hold yourself to the same standards that you expect of others. Good character makes you authentic, builds trust and motivates others.

Leave your comments or questions below, I look forward to hearing how God’s favor is working in your life.

Vision – Write It Down

I tried to find all kinds of fancy ways to design this blog for readers today. All I could come up with was this simple line…….WRITE IT DOWN!

Broad statements will yield a broad return. Be specific! Be clear! Be inspired! Narrow it down until you can make it make sense to yourself. It needs to make sense to you first. It is your vision remember. You have been the one dreaming, daydreaming, and possibly losing sleep at times. It is clear that you own the vision. As you see it, you should write it!

Too many times we make the error of living out someone else’s thoughts and dreams for us. This leads to an extreme amount of unhappiness and discomfort. Take charge of your vision at once. Be confident of the vision that you have for yourself. Don’t waste another minute asking folks to define your vision for you. Remember the word of God is a tremendous resource to answer ALL of our questions. People will be a great resource, however you are responsible for what God has placed inside of you. Do the work, you will reap the benefit.

In such a digital age, I still believe in the power of pen and paper. I own more gadgets than I can think of, yet look at my bathroom calendar every morning for reminders. There is a power in reading what is written, especially when you have to take extra time to figure out your own handwriting. Something about reading what you have written can take you back to the moment and re-ignite the fire all over again. We all need reminders.

There will be points that we come to with our vision which will give us the opportunity to place check marks as we complete parts of our vision. We need these small celebrations at different points of our vision. We need to feel like we have accomplished a little something, this also helps us to re-ignite the fire all over again. Each check mark represents you being on step closer to your fulfillment.

God has given us the ability to get wealth! What you dream about could really be the thing that will finance your future. It is very important that you connect prayer to your vision. Pray that God will connect you to the appropriate resources (not always cash) to do business in great waters. Remember who you are called to be…..lenders and not borrowers.
