Being Successful!

measuring-website-success.jpg

Success isn’t magical. It takes intention and purpose, furthermore it’s more of an inward work than outward. Below I’ve listed 3 things you have to do or become to achieve and maintain success.

1. Think positive. It’s so much easier to be pessimistic than to be optimistic, isn’t it? To look at the half empty glass instead of the half full glass, to criticize and complain instead of expressing our appreciation and gratitude for everything that happens to us and all around us. Well, not anymore.

2. Set goals and write them with target schedules. Without dreams, how can we have a winning attitude to fight life’s many battles? Without target schedules, goals are fantasies and unexciting.

3. Passion. We should love our work, whatever our vocation. We should be the best and throw away the “It’s already okay” mindset.

I want to hear your thoughts….what are your steps for success.

Strategize

Good day folks! I want to share a quick thought with you to help you navigate through this period in your life. If you are following me on FB and/or twitter I will be posting about this subject as well. I want to talk to you about STRATEGY!

Moving forward you MUST strategize. Every ounce of your energy must be accounted for and dispersed properly. There is no time to waste on faulty relationships, mismanagement of money, or bad business deals. You have to do as Paul expressed he did in 1 Corinthians 9:26 – So I run like someone who has a goal. I fight like a boxer who is hitting something, not just the air. Here Paul is saying, I’m just not going through the motions, but every move is executed with precision as I am progressively moving towards my goals.

Before I finish this blog let me say this. I believe for those who are diligently working towards a goal and/or a project, you are going to far exceed your expectation! After all there is no need of starting something if you don’t plan on finishing strong, right? So let’s get the idea of failure out of our minds. Now that we got that out of the way, if you haven’t properly strategized take a moment (or as many moments as necessary) to do so now! Strategizing will save you energy, time, money and will serve as a reliable road map if you get lost mid journey!

What Death Taught Me

2014-07-06-images1-thumb

One thing that has stood out to me as I ponder over 2015 is the untimely deaths of loved ones this year. This has caused me to shed tears that I preferred not to have shed. If you’ve been reading my blogs for any length of time you will understand that I’m always looking for a lesson out of everything in life. We talked about this on the last blog as well, no matter whether it’s good, bad, or ugly – finding the lesson is essential.

As I pondered on the lives of the individuals, all in which left us too soon, what they did – how they lived their lives – how old they were, I instinctively thought about my life. See, there are a lot of us that are still breathing and going about our lives, but really we are the walking dead. We are rotting with issues of the past, hurts from loved ones and unspoken secrets. We are living, but full of dead issues. Now I’m going to say this and it might sting a little bit so brace yourself – are you ready?

What better off are you than the those who are no longer with us if we are so full of negativity and darkness that we can’t produce real true life?

(Let’s take a moment and let that sink in)

I want to challenge you before the turn of the year – DO SOME HOUSEKEEPING! Don’t carry the dead stuff over, confront, deal, do whatever you have to do to make it right so that you can LIVE!

How Do You Know When It’s Time For Change?

time-for-change

I feel like this needs repeating.

A lot of times we live a hesitant, tentative life, totally unaware of the strength and power that we have to get much more out of our lives. Today I want to challenge you to NOT be one of them.  Don’t wait until you have drained yourself of life completely before paying attention to the signs it’s time for a change.

I want to share with you some tell tell signs, when it’s time for a change.

You’ve forgotten you have choices. Learn to recognize when enough is enough. Sometimes you have to stop hitting your head against the proverbial wall and move on. You don’t have to continue living in the drama just because it’s familiar.

Allow yourself to let go of people and situations, ideas and feelings that aren’t conducive to the nourishment of your growth, or your soul. Let go. Let go now.

You’ve forgotten that you’re deserving of the best. Not everyone will look at you the same. But everyone deserves to have someone in their corner who appreciates them just as they are. Feelings of worth will never flourish in an atmosphere of criticism, where mistakes aren’t tolerated and differences are belittled.

If you’re besieged by people who are discouraging and critical, the spark of inspiration and hope that allows you to be in touch with your deepest potential is not easily recognized.

You’ve lost your passion. You’re lifestyle no longer fits the person you’ve become.  There’s no spring in your step, no joy in your heart. Life is just one ho hum day at a time. You’ve forgotten a time when you jumped out of bed with a smile in your heart.

External motivation doesn’t last long. Material possessions and money all have their place…but if you want to live a passionate life it’s the internal motivation that will get you there. And it’s rarely exhausted until the dream comes true.

Life is too short to continually go around the same mountain over and over. If you find yourself in the above, IT’S TIME TO MAKE A MOVE!

How’s Your Fruit – Love

the-word-love-in-cursive-Capture23

This is the strongest 4 letter world in the dictionary – urban, webster or you name it.

Love –  unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another:

So do you have love? Is your love component evangelizing your co-workers, friends, family members, and those your are connected with? You know the love component that is unselfish loyal and has a benevolent concern for the good of another. Or do you leave the four walls of the church every Sunday thinking about yourself, intoxicated with SELF. A lot of us if I ask across the board is your love component strong you will unanimously say yes, but if I ask you are you unselfishly loyal and do you have a benevolent concern for the good of another what will your response be?

To be like Christ is to sacrifice yourself willingly for the greater cause of someone else. Are you willing to take on lies, and accusation for the sake of being a great example?

I’m afraid that we haven’t conquered the most important, viable fruit of them all. I would even stretch to say if you don’t love properly you probably don’t have the other fruit.

I know today’s conversation was a little rough, but remember we are a walking billboard for Jesus. Jesus is LOVE, and if we don’t have proper love we don’t have proper Jesus.

Oh Boy Do We Have a Problem!

I hope that the topic of this blog has drawn you in enough where I have gotten your attention properly. So you may be wondering do we really have a problem and my answer is ABSOLUTELY!

There is a generation that is bolder, more outspoken, and determined to break the mold called the millennials! The issue is this generation has no intentions on following the beaten path that our forefathers created and we held true to. Going to church twice a week, keeping the same job for 20+ years, and having 2.5 kids and a dog with a white picket fence is the last thing on this generations mind. If we are going to effectively reach this generation then we are going to have to change our methods – point, blank, period! Do not think you are going to fit this generation into the mold that worked for you, it will NOT work. They will rebel, mock you, and find a better more efficient way to do what you’ve been doing perfectly all these years.

I don’t say this often as it isn’t the advice I like to prescribe to but in this case I say this proudly, “If you can’t beat them, JOIN THEM.”

This week I will be focusing on the steps to win this generation over. Looking forward to you taking this journey with me.

Trusting God

trusting_god

As in anything in life, most things are easier said than done. I believe on the onset of trusting God it’s the same way. I want to put emphasis on “on the onset” because trusting God is like a muscle, the easier it is to be used. I want to talk about this today because a lot of us pray, fast, speak in tongues, and some of everything else we can think of to try and coerce God to move for us. The question is do you really trust him? Trusting God is not a external act primarily, it’s internal. It’s a posture that’s taken, and most times has to be reaffirmed at least daily. Now I don’t want you to get me wrong, when I say I’m trusting God, it isn’t always as pretty as it sounds. Sometimes that means, pulling all of my emotions, thoughts, and sometimes deeds into a place of submission. It means at times going against the natural course of things, but do you trust Him? If you do, then you’ll do whatever it takes to remain in that posture of trust. Below are three important truths to have with you at all times when you are in a waiting situation, and ONLY God can bring you out.

  1. God’s Perfect Will is GOOD. I know it can seem like you are all by yourself, and that the entire universe is against you, but the reality is God is watching your every step. All things work together for the good of them that Love the Lord
  2. Worrying Won’t Fix a Thing. When it comes to attracting the wrong things in your life- keep on worrying. If you want the good of God you will have to learn how to channel that automatic negative nagging energy into positive belief and Faith. Yesterday we talked about heightening your expectation and giving God something to work with. He can’t work with your negativity.
  3. Remember God’s History. Has he failed you yet? Well ok then, I need not say more. 🙂
