Entrepreneurship Pt. 2

I hope you enjoyed the blog yesterday about the steps to take for Entrepreneurship. Well I wanted to share four more steps with you to help you get on your way to the journey of freedom. Before we get started, I want to elaborate a little more on the reason why I believe entrepreneurship is a Kingdom idea. One thing that God desires us is to be free, unattached from the systems of this world so that we can change it without influence. We are not to be a slave to the systems of this world! As a matter of fact, the disciples were entrepreneurs which allowed them to drop what they were doing to follow Jesus. Listen, I know it’s easier to read vs. do it, but here me clear – God is talking to you. It’s time to tap into your divine craft and serve the world with your gift by way of entrepreneurship!

Ok now that I’ve gotten that out of the way…let’s discuss 4 more steps to starting your own business.

Constantly Take Action. Entrepreneurs are movers and shakers. They can’t afford to analyze every detail or they’d never get anywhere. There is no place for procrastination in a startup. It’s a 24/7, no-vacation-or-sick-days kind of job that demands constant forward momentum. Make a brief assessment at every step and move on it. Trust your gut!!

Make A Plan. You guys know how I am about making a list. So this point is important. Read about successful businesses. Take in the wealth of knowledge that’s been provided by successful entrepreneurs such as Steve Jobs and the personalities from Shark Tank. A successful business plan does not have to be a book. A 10-page plan is digestible yet long enough to include everything you need to start.

Build a Reputation. Be sure to do a lot of volunteering to build your resume. A lot of times people want to see what you have done before they hire you as a small business and/or entrepreneur. Since you don’t have the brand identity of the company that does the same services for years, you might have to be creative how you build your clientele. Maybe find a friend and perform the services for them for free in exchange for testimonials. Offer discounted prices for your first 20 customers. Be creativity and building your reputation.

It’s Never Too Late to Start. Many successful entrepreneurs started later in life. Having the experience that comes with age can give you a unique outlook on your business. Life experiences bring depth that the most educated young adult, by his or her nature, is less able to foresee.

That’s it for today, feel free to leave your comments and/or questions below and we’ll chat with you guys on tomorrow for another installment on Entrepreneurship!

I believe that God has agents in the world that are suppose to be ambassadors in the marketplace. These individuals have been hand picked specifically to change the world in their specific industry. I believe there isn’t enough talk in the church about Entrepreneurship – how to successfully start a business. I feel burdened to empower the people of God to seek advancement in the marketplace so I want to share with you four steps to starting your own business. Enjoy!

Love What You Do. Passion is key to keeping a business strategy moving. Half-heartedness in an entrepreneurial endeavor will chip away at your drive to succeed. Perseverance is the one thing that’s guaranteed to move anything over time, whether it’s a person, a job or an entire company.

Take Baby Steps. Jumping all in is rarely ever successful. There are success stories about people who invested everything once and came out winners after six months or a couple years, but those are rare. Risk management is an essential factor in any startup, and balance is vital. You can absorb losses more easily if you take smaller risks in the beginning. Those will provide essential and productive lessons.

Learn From Others. Successful entrepreneurs often worked for others in their field of choice before striking out on their own. Spending a few years in the industry under an excellent mentor will provide a good launching pad. Learn from your predecessors’ mistakes and brainstorm about how to improve upon their model. Find someone willing to teach, and think about starting your business elsewhere when you leave.

Learn How to Self-Promote. Confidence can take any pitch to the next level. The first marketing any company experiences comes from its founder. Spend time learning how to share your vision without coming across as ingenuine.

I will be sharing more from this subject throughout the week! Feel free to leave your comments or questions.

Sometimes You Have to Let Them Go.

Hey Family – Hope you guys are well. I need to discuss with you something that can really be the difference between failure and success.

People are an important factor in your life. No man is an island and for that we all should be glad. People accent our lives with color, they bring laughter, relationship, and companionship. To that fact, when God wants to get something to you He uses a person or a group of people. Just as much as having a person or a people in your life is NECESSARY for success, to the contrary having the wrong person on your life could easily thwart all the good that is suppose to come to you.

So we understand that we need the right people in our lives, let’s go a little deeper. There are times where you are forced to get someone out of your life that you love or even more importantly actually like. Yes, sometimes your closest friend is the worse enemy to your destiny. Being with them will serve you laughter today but, tears on tomorrow. Typically with our loved ones, we tend to ignore the signs that life gives us to let them go. After all this is the person you kick it with, this is the girlfriend that you call when you want to have girls night out, this is THAT guy. Yes I know, I know – but did it even occur to you that keeping this person or people in your life though  it isn’t upsetting your now has completely stunted your future.

Sometimes people, especially friends and family that really love us work hard to keep us where we are at. They enjoy our now, but they are not quite ready for our future. Have you been holding on to people you KNOW life/God/The Universe has been telling you – LET GO! If that’s you – you can also agree that you’ve been filling stagnant and stuck, while it seems everyone around you is doing just fine. I want to challenge you today to break yourself free by letting them go!

Joy is Coming

Well we are at the end of the week and I must say God has brought us through it!

I want to take sometime and share my heart with you. I believe that the upcoming months are going to prove itself to be good for us. Psalms 30:5 comes to mind as I type this: For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Life is nothing but a cycle of seasons, and for some of us we have been in a long season of wandering through the wilderness trying to find our way. Though the wandering comes with invaluable life lessons, which we are all the better for. I sense a turning of the season. I believe it’s time for joy to come!

No matter where you are in your life right now, remember this – JOY IS COMING! Your weeping is seasonal, and that season is almost up. Make sure you are learning all the lessons you are suppose to learn while you are in the wilderness. The last thing you need is repeats and do-overs. If you are ready for what’s to come start preparing yourself, because JOY IS COMING.

Taking Care of Yourself – Building Great Relationships

We have been talking about the three practical steps for physical health, Mental Health, and Emotional health. Now we are going to discuss 3 steps for healthy relationships.

1- Practice listening to the person you are interested in developing a relationship with.

People often feel honored when you give them the respect of your ear. This will also give you great insight on their history, philosophy, and expectations from a relationship.

2- Be willing to let your own guard down.

This doesn’t mean telling all your deepest, darkest secrets, just be willing to talk about yourself. Many people find this a difficult thing to do, and by you opening up will give that opportunity to do the same!

3- Forgiveness is also important in a relationship that has value to you.

To keep a personal relationship, try to listen before criticizing. Especially when you feel as though there is something to be angry about, it’s important to hold your tongue and try to understand the other person. This way, you can grow in a relationship.

I hope you enjoyed this weeks blogs. We will be right back at it, this coming up Monday.

Taking Care of Yourself – Your Brain

Yesterday we talked about 3 steps to take care of the body, today I want to talk about 3 steps to take care of the brain.

  1. Do something!

It has been suggested that staying active may be the single most important thing you can do for the long-term health of your brain. Not only does the heart and lungs respond to exercise, the brain is quietly getting fitter as well. For mental fitness, aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity every other day. Now I know that everyone can’t commit to 30 min a day of exercise but, DO SOMETHING!!

  1. Chill OUT!

Stress takes a toll on the brain by washing harmful chemicals over the hippocampus and other brain areas involved in memory. Some scientists suspect that living a balanced lifestyle and pursuing relaxing activities such as yoga, socializing and crafting may delay memory impairment by reducing stress.

  1. Take Care of your Body

Largely preventable diseases (Type II diabetes, obesity and hypertension) all affect your brain. Health concerns have been linked to an increased risk of cognitive decline and memory impairments. Keeping your circulatory system in working order by avoiding cigarettes and saturated fat, lessens the onslaught of age-related damage to the brain.

These are 3 simple but impactful ways to take care of your brain!
