The Brick Wall

Happy Tuesday!

I want to talk to you about The Brick Wall. You might ask, what in the world is that? It’s the wall your body hits after you’ve pushed yourself too hard. Your soul is stronger than your physical body, and if determined you can push yourself beyond your physical limits. Because of that I believe everyone has a limiter that when passed their body will do something drastic to get your attention – and that is what I call the brick wall.

In the society we live in, we have to be the best in everything we do. This means waking up earlier and going to bed later. It means not taking the time to eat a proper lunch, but grabbing something fast and mostly unhealthy. I think sometimes we forget that our body is like a car, it is built to last BUT you have to take care of it.

I want to encourage everyone to take a moment everyday and slow down, make sure you involve yourself in some form of prayer and meditation and most of all get plenty of REST. It’s better to take a moment a day and rest, than to loose 2-3 days recovering from sickness!

I want to hear your thoughts, leave a comment or a question below.

Daily Meditation

Hey! Yes you! Come and bring me your attention for a moment. When is the last time you sat quiet? There is so much noise in the world today that sometimes it’s hard to hear yourself think.

As a Christian, I believe that we should always take time to just simply BE QUIET! (Yes I yelled be quiet)

This can also be called meditation. I want to share with you 3 benefits of taking the time to meditate.

1. Daily meditation reduces stress. You will notice that if you meditate every day, your stress levels will go down. If you meditate daily for a couple of months, you may not get stressed at all, or slightly stressed. Everyday meditation makes you see things differently. What seemed very important before no longer seems so. What you considered stressful in the past no longer appears so. This is because when you meditate, you understand that you well-being is more important than material things or events, so you naturally stop worrying about them.

2. Meditation gives you more energy. Meditation gives you access to an inner wealth of energy that most of us do not tap due to lack of consciousness. This energy cleanses your nerves and gives you more power. When you make daily meditation into a habit, you will no longer suffer from being drained in the middle of the day or feeling tired after little work.

3. Daily meditation increases your focus. If you have a short attention span and find it difficult to focus on things for more than a couple of minutes, meditation will help you extend your focus. When you meditate, you clear your head from thoughts and you stay in the same position for 15-30 minutes or more. This alone improves your focus because you engage in one activity for an extended period of time.

Share your thoughts on Meditation, I would love to hear from you!!

When is the Last Time You Had a Good LAUGH?

“Your sense of humor is one of the most powerful tools you have to make certain that your daily mood and emotional state support good health.”

~ Paul E. McGhee, Ph.D.

Let’s talk about something that needs to be in our life. Food? Nope (Well actually, food is ALWAYS in order, but that’s another blog) Sex? Nope (that’s another blog as well 🙂  ) ok I won’t continue to string you along any longer, we ALL need laughter. When is the last time you had a good laugh? You know where the tears are streaming down your face, and you’re holding your stomach from cramps due to the uncontrollable burst after burst of laughter. Well if it’s been a while it’s time to find a reason to laugh.  Yes, go find you some happy!

I want to discuss with you 3 benefits to laughter, here we go!

1. Laughter relaxes your entire body. It’s been said that a good laugh will leave you tense free for at least 45 min.

2. Laughter triggers the release of endorphins. Endorphins is the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain. Yelp forget about CVS for pain medicine, let’s laugh about something!

3. Laughter boosts the immune system. Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease.

ok you got it? Today’s challenge is to go find something to laugh about, then tell me about it in the comment below!

Laughter – it’s the best Medicine

I want to spend the remainder of the week talking about good health. We can’t live our best lives and be in the worst shape at the same time. It just doesn’t work like that. We are suppose to be so healthy on the inside that it spills over into us taking action to make our outer shell healthy.

I want to give you some fail proof health advice, that is absolutely free to do, and you can do it almost anywhere. You need to laugh more. Yes you heard me right, we are not laughing enough. I can understand why that is so because many things are happening to us and around us that could easily zap our joy.

Laughter is a powerful antidote to stress, pain, and conflict. There isn’t a medicine that works faster or more to bring your mind and body back into balance than a good laugh.  Below are some simple facts on laughing

  • Laughter relaxes the whole body. A good, hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress, leaving your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes after.
  • Laughter boosts the immune system. Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease.
  • Laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain.
  • Laughter protects the heart. Laughter improves the function of blood vessels and increases blood flow, which can help protect you against a heart attack and other cardiovascular problems.

With so much power to heal and renew, the ability to laugh easily and frequently is a tremendous resource for surmounting problems, enhancing your relationships, and supporting both physical and emotional health.

Taking Care of Yourself – Your Body

Hello Family – it is yet another day and I’m extremely blessed to be able to share it with you guys. I want to talk about something very important that most of us don’t really like to deal with – that is our physical health. You can be an outstanding, overall great person, but if you are not taking care of your physical body you are not guaranteed to be with us very long at all. So I wanted to share 3 easy ways to take care of your temple.

  • Take time to exercise

Exercise is a great weight gain controller or maintainer. It also combats health diseases and conditions. You don’t have to go out and run a marathon tomorrow, but do something that will speed your heart rate up. It also helps stabilize mood. If you’re stressed out, exercise is a great way to ease tension and balance out your mood properly

  • Make sleep a priority

Now I know this can be a tough one being that sometimes it feels like there isn’t enough time in the day to do ANYTHING! The National, Heart, Lung and Blood institute says that Sleep plays an important role in your physical health. For example, sleep is involved in healing and repair of your heart and blood vessels. Ongoing sleep deficiency is linked to an increased risk of heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke.

  • Slow down

There is a Latin Term Carpe Diem – seize the day! In other words enjoy the moment. Often times we are so rushed to get here, do this, settle that, that we allow precious moments to pass us by that could be used to appreciate the small things in life with big meanings. If we learn to slow our pace a little, and take in the fresh air, enjoy the scenery, savor the lunch we’re eating – it will create a better flowing day that will work for us and not against us.

I hope that this helps you a little – it is not enough to be super smart, very spiritual, and financial well, but you MUST take care of your body. Start today with these three easy steps and create pockets of change in your life!!

The Matters of Money – Sowing and Reaping

Happy Monday! We are going to continue our discussion on The Matters of Money. Today I want to discuss the powers of sowing and reaping. It’s only in the Kingdom that you have to loose to gain.

Let’s hear what Mark has to say about the matter-

Mark 10:29-31

29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,

30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

31 But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

Do you see the paradox? I’m asking God for more and he is saying to me give more? It is the norm to fund all types of savings account, 401k, money market accounts, CDs, and the stock market. Whereas in the Kingdom the only real way to secure our future is “giving”. Jesus says in the above scriptures, that no man will leave his house, family, and land (in other words give up everything) for the sake of the gospel and not receive it back “in this earth” 100 fold. (that means 100 times over). Now there is a little caveat that – with persecutions. **That’s another blog 🙂

I want to leave you with this to think about – are you willing to give up everything now – to gain later.
